Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
DuraFlex Chimney Inspection in Dallas: What to Know First
A DuraFlex chimney inspection in Dallas typically runs between $189 and $349 for a standard camera or Level 2 inspection, and we complete most inspections within 90 minutes. We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider, not a factory authorized shop, which means we tell you what the liner actually needs without any pressure to buy a brand-specific fix. That price is written down and approved by you before we start.
This page is for homeowners who already have a DuraFlex liner installed, or homes where a previous owner put one in, and they want to know if it’s still doing its job. If that’s you, call (361) 492-4099 and we’ll get you scheduled. We do our own inspections and repairs right here in Dallas, and we’ve worked on enough DuraFlex systems to know where they fail and where they hold up fine.
How DuraFlex Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
- Corrugated inner wall cracking on DuraFlex 316Ti liners. The 316Ti alloy oval-to-round liner is a solid product, but after years of thermal cycling, the corrugated walls can develop hairline cracks at the bend points, especially in Dallas homes where fireplaces get used hard in December and January, then sit cold and damp through a humid spring. We spot these during camera inspection when we see white powdery staining along a ridge line. The fix is a section replacement or a full liner swap depending on how far the cracking runs.
- Cast-in-place installation defects on DuraFlex’s Pro system. We see a fair number of Pro liners in older Dallas houses near the M Streets and Lakewood where contractors retrofitted chimneys in the early 2000s. The known issue is uneven mortar mix during installation, which leaves the liner wall thin in spots. A camera inspection shows an uneven thickness profile, and sometimes you’ll hear a hollow tap difference if you knock the flue tile from inside. We repair by sectioning out the thin area and re-pouring or sleeving it with a new Pro section.
- Flex connector sag on DuraFlex’s two-ply flexible chimney liner kits. The two-ply flex liner, which is really designed for use inside a masonry flue, sometimes sags between anchor points on longer runs in Dallas’s two-story colonials. That sag creates a low spot where creosote and moisture pool. We find this all the time on houses where the original install was done without enough support straps. The fix is adding support hangers and reseating the liner, usually a same-day repair.
- Corrosion at the tee connection on DuraFlex rigid-to-flex transition kits. The tee body and snout on DuraFlex’s 304 stainless kits hold up well, but the connection point where the flex meets the rigid tee is where we see rust bloom on homes near White Rock Lake where the air carries more moisture. The root cause is usually a condensation point, not a material defect. We clean up the connection, check the fasteners, and re-seal with a high-temp silicone rated for flue gas.
- Improperly terminated cap on DuraFlex smooth-wall liners. The smooth-wall 316 line has a cap termination detail that some DIY installers get wrong. If the cap sits too low in the flue, water runs down the outside of the liner and pools at the base plate, which then works its way into the firebox wall. This one is common enough that we check cap height on every Dallas inspection we do. The fix is raising and reseating the cap with the right storm collar detail.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Process
Here’s exactly what happens when you call us for a DuraFlex inspection in Dallas:
- 1
You call (361) 492-4099 and talk to a live person. No phone tree. We take down the fireplace location, age of the house, and anything you’ve noticed like a smell or a drafting problem. We give you a written price for the inspection before we hang up.
- 2
We arrive in the window we gave you. Uniformed technician, badge visible, background-checked. We lay down drop cloths around the firebox opening and run a camera up the flue from the firebox up through the termination cap.
- 3
We look at the liner the way a mechanic looks at an engine. On a DuraFlex job we’re checking for the specific failure modes listed above: corrugation cracking, thin pour spots, connector corrosion, cap height, and anchor sag. We also inspect the firebox, damper, smoke chamber, and crown.
- 4
We show you the footage. If the flue is clear, Hank Delano will tell you. If it’s not, he’ll show you exactly why. The camera feed doesn’t lie, and you watch it with us so you can see what we see. This is where the “trust me, you need a new liner” discussion dies. You either see the problem or you don’t.
- 5
We write up the findings and the price. If something needs fixing, we give you a written repair quote with the exact part we’ll use. For DuraFlex work we’re specifying either a DuraFlex OEM section or a compatible aftermarket part, and we’ll tell you which and why. The decision is yours.
- 6
Any repair we do is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. Written guarantee, good for one full year. If a covered repair fails in that window, we come back and fix it at no charge.

AfterWhat DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Costs in Dallas
Here are the honest numbers for DuraFlex work in the Dallas market:
- Level 1 visual inspection: $189 to $249. Firebox check, damper operation, visible liner condition from the firebox and the roof. Good for annual maintenance when nothing’s changed.
- Level 2 camera inspection: $289 to $349. Full video run through the flue, crown inspection, cap check, and the DuraFlex-specific failure checks above. This is what we recommend for any Dallas home where the liner is more than five years old or you’ve never had a camera in the flue.
- Level 3 inspection (teardown): $500 to $1,200. We’re opening up a section of chimney wall to see the liner exit or the internal connection. This is for chimneys with suspected hidden damage or after a chimney fire.
What moves the price: chimney height, roof pitch, and whether your cap requires special access. A two-story house in Lakewood with a steep roof runs more than a ranch in Mesquite. We give you the exact number before any work starts, and we never add a line item mid-job. Call (361) 492-4099 for a free estimate.
Why Dallas Homeowners Call Flint Chimney Co Dallas for DuraFlex Work
Hank Delano grew up around fire and smoke, and he’s been cleaning and inspecting chimneys across Dallas for years. He and the crew have been in older houses near the M Streets where decorative masonry fireplaces hide aging liners, and they’ve seen enough creosote buildup in those flues to know what a North Texas fall does to a chimney that’s been sitting all summer. When we hold a DuraFlex liner up to a flashlight, we know what we’re looking at because we’ve replaced enough of them to know where they fail.
Flint Chimney Co Dallas operates under the Garrison Standard. That means every repair gets a written one-year guarantee, the 365-Day Done Right Promise. A free second visit is part of that deal if a covered repair doesn’t hold. Phones are answered by a person around the clock, not a callback form. We stock and work with HeatShield and Gelco as well, so if a DuraFlex liner is past saving, we can show you the alternatives without sending you back to Google to research on your own. The written price you approve is the invoice you pay.
FAQs
No. A chimney inspection does not void a DuraFlex warranty. We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider, meaning we’re not connected to the factory, but an inspection is non-invasive and doesn’t alter the liner. What can void a warranty is an improper repair, which is exactly why we specify DuraFlex-compatible parts and write the part numbers on the quote so you can verify them if you want.
Most inspections are booked within three to five business days, and the inspection itself runs about 90 minutes from the moment we set down the drop cloths to the moment Hank hands you the report. If you’re in a bind, like a real estate closing, call (361) 492-4099 and we’ll tell you honestly what our schedule looks like.
For a DuraFlex liner, yes. A visual check from the firebox and the roof only shows you the ends of the liner. The middle sections, where sag and cracking happen, are invisible without a video probe. The camera inspection finds the problems that a visual check misses, and it gives you proof. We don’t recommend a repair unless we can show you the damage on screen.
Roughly 70% of the DuraFlex issues we find in Dallas homes are repairable with a section replacement, a reseat, or a connector fix. We don’t sell you a full liner when a $300 connector fix solves the problem. If the liner is past repair, we’ll show you the footage and we’ll quote you the replacement with the material specified, whether that’s another DuraFlex section or a HeatShield alternative.
Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every repair we make for one full year from the service date. If a covered repair fails during that window, we return and fix it at no charge. No argument, no second invoice. That guarantee is written on every repair quote we hand you, and it’s the reason we don’t pad jobs with work that can safely wait.
