Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Chimney Cleaning Before & After in Dallas, TX
Photos tell the truth faster than any claim we could make. Below are real chimney cleaning jobs from around Dallas, shown before our techs touched anything and after the work was done. Some were routine maintenance, some had gone dangerously long without service. None of them are staged, and every one shows what actually happens inside a Dallas flue over time. This is the work, documented honestly.

Heavy Creosote Removal in a Lakewood Wood-Burning Fireplace
Before
AfterThe homeowner had burned nothing but pine for two winters, which in Dallas humidity turns into a shiny, tar-like glaze inside the flue. Our before photo shows the walls coated nearly a quarter inch thick in places. We ran a rotary cleaning head with a heavy chain flail down the full length, then hand-scraped the smoke chamber. The after photo shows bare clay tile again, and the draft test showed a 40% improvement in draw.
Animal Nest Extraction and Flue Restoration in Richardson
Before
AfterA family of chimney swifts had built a nest about six feet down from the cap, and the homeowner only noticed when smoke started backing into the living room. The before photo shows the nest fully blocking the flue, with twigs, feathers, and dried droppings compacted against the tile. Our tech pulled the nest in sections, swept the entire flue, and installed a new cap with proper screening so it couldn’t happen again. The after photo shows a clean, open flue from top to bottom.
Third-Stage Creosote Tackle in a Garland Freestanding Stove
Before
AfterThis one was borderline. The homeowner said the stove “just didn’t draft like it used to,” and the before photo showed why: glazed, rock-hard creosote had narrowed the 6-inch stovepipe to about a 3-inch opening. Third-stage creosote like this usually means liner replacement, and we told them so plainly. They opted to try a mechanical removal first, and our tech spent over three hours with a rotary chain system to clear it. The after photo shows a flue that’s still rough but fully open and safe to burn in again, with a recommendation to sweep twice a season if they keep burning the same wood.
Smoke Chamber Cleanout in a 1960s Preston Hollow Home

Older Dallas homes often have smoke chambers with corbelled brickwork, and this one hadn’t been touched since the house was built. The before photo shows thick, flaky creosote layered across every brick face, some of it loose enough to fall and obstruct the throat damper. We use a specialized whip system for smoke chambers rather than a standard flue brush, which lets us reach the corbelled ledges. The after photo shows clean brick throughout, and the homeowner said the fireplace smelled noticeably better within a day.
Chimney Sweep and Cap Replacement in Oak Cliff

The before photo here shows a typical Dallas problem: a missing rain cap and a flue full of leaves, twigs, and at least one tennis ball. Water had been getting in for months, leaving rust streaks down the firebox walls. We swept the flue, checked the tiles for freeze-thaw damage (no cracks, which was lucky), and installed a stainless steel cap with a proper mesh screen. The after photo shows a dry, clean flue with a cap that’ll keep out everything that doesn’t belong.
